This marble bust fragment, discovered in the Roman villas of Carthage, preserves the back of the head and shoulders of a figure. The drapery detail around the neck is still visible, though the face and much of the front are missing due to weathering or loss over time. Busts like this were common in Roman domestic spaces, often used to commemorate ancestors, honor public figures, or serve as decorative art in private villas. Even in its incomplete state, the carving reflects the Roman emphasis on portraiture and individuality.
