This headless marble statue, discovered on Byrsa Hill in Carthage, depicts a Roman figure draped in a toga. The detailed folds of the garment symbolize civic duty and elite status in Roman society. Although the head and parts of the arms are missing, the craftsmanship of the drapery remains striking. Byrsa Hill, once the political and religious heart of Carthage, was later transformed into a Roman city center after the Punic Wars, leaving behind statues like this one that reflect the blending of Punic and Roman heritage. .
